I began my career as a runner and researcher in television, working for a range of production companies. This included studying for a Masters in Digital Television and contributing to Newsround at the BBC. This formative period allowed me to develop creativity, resourcefulness, and resilience — skills that have proved invaluable throughout my teaching career.
After training at the UCL Institute of Education, I gained experience in a variety of school settings across both inner and outer London, teaching across the primary and early years phases. In these roles, I held several leadership responsibilities, including specialisation in EAL, Early Years SENDCo, NQT (now ECT) induction, and early reading. I also hold a Masters level qualification in supporting EAL learners.
My work as an Early Years Consultant for the London Borough of Islington further deepened my understanding of early years education. I supported schools, PVIs, and maintained nurseries in delivering the highest-quality early education for children.
Most recently, I have led a large primary school and maintained nursery in an area of high deprivation in the London fringe. Joining the school towards the end of the Covid-19 pandemic, I successfully established a new and effective culture across the school and built a cohesive staff team. I led both schools to achieve ‘Good’ at Ofsted inspections in 2024. In particular, I have led the primary school to develop provision for Oracy, outdoor play from Reception to Year 6 and overseen significant improvement in the EYFS, drawing upon evidence based research of early childhood development to ensure the highest quality of provision for our youngest children. I have recently studied for and attained my NPQ in Executive Leadership.
I have a passion for supporting continuous professional development. As Executive Headteacher I have developed a culture in the primary school of Instructional Coaching and Reflective Practice. I have worked in partnership with UCL Institute of Education to run Action Research Projects for Early Years Practitioners in Islington and most recently I have been facilitating on their NPQ in Early Years Leadership.
